
CDPP 750 – Theories, Models & Strategies for Career Development Practice
This course is designed to provide the essential foundational concepts for practitioners to assist clients with their career concerns. It provides both an exposure to theory as well as integrates a practical, hands-on approach to skills and techniques for work with a broad range of clients in an ever-changing labour market.
Learning Objectives
- Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the relevance of theory to professional practice and identify major career development theories;
- Examine common models of practice within the career development field;
- Uncover the personal assumptions that form a basis for your own professional practice;
- Describe the basic characteristics of diverse client groups and strategies for intervention;
- Create a working context that includes client’s individual needs;
- Identify barriers and methods to help clients overcome their personal challenges.
