Session Description:
As an Indigenous community, it is important to recognize and address the impact of colonization on our traditions, customs, and way of life. Through the art of storytelling, we can revive cultural practices and preserve our heritage for future generations. In this session, we will explore the impact of colonization on our community, and how storytelling can be a tool for healing and reclaiming our identity.
We will discuss various forms of storytelling practiced by Indigenous communities, such as oral traditions, song, dance, and visual art. We will also delve into how Western forms of storytelling have perpetuated negative stereotypes and misrepresented our experiences.
Together, we will share our stories and work towards developing a narrative that reflects our lived experiences and empowers our community.
