YWCA/Amplifying Voices Symposium
This is an in-person symposium!
On November 28th, YWCA St. John’s is hosting a knowledge-sharing symposium on the settlement and integration of LGBTQ+ newcomers in NL.
This free event is held in partnership with Dr. Sulaimon Giwa of Memorial University’s School of Social Work. The symposium will feature a presentation from Dr. Giwa, who will share initial findings from the recently conducted study: “Settlement and integration experiences of LGBTQ+ newcomers and providers’ perspective about meeting their needs in Newfoundland and Labrador”.
There will also be interactive elements for attendees to engage with the research findings, opportunities to connect with others, and a catered lunch will be provided.
All community members and service providers are welcome! We especially encourage attendance from service providers in the settlement sector and 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations, as we hope the research findings will help inform your work with LGBTQ+ newcomers.
As there are limited seats available, we recommend registering as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you there!
